Description For the consecration of the votive chapel of the new cathedral in Linz Anton Bruckner, in the year 1869, composed a four-voice motet with the title "Locus iste", which means "this place". It is a so-called gradual, a chant that is sung in the Catholic liturgy after the first reading. The performance at that time could not take place on the intended day, the motet could be heard for the first time at the intended place some weeks later. It is a very simple and also touching piece of music that later became very popular because the technical requirements could easily be met by the choir. It can often be heard to this day, especially at annual fairs (commemorating the consecration of the local church).
